Barcelona’s Martin Braithwaite sidelined with sprained ankle injury

Barcelona will be without Martin Braithwaite for their crucial game against Getafe as the Danish striker has suffered an ankle injury during Tuesday’s training session and is set for a spell on the sidelines.

The club have confirmed the news in a

statement

on Thursday on the club’s official website.

“First team player Martin Braithwaite sprained his right ankle during Tuesday morning's training session. He is therefore unavailable for selection and the evolution of the injury will condition his availability.”

He is set to miss their next two league games, at home to

Getafe

in midweek action and away to rivals

Villarreal

this weekend.

This season he has made 39 appearances for the club and has scored seven goals and provided four assists so far.

It was his goal that helped Barcelona come back in the Copa del Rey semi-final against

Sevilla

.
