Badstuber insists Upamecano is not ready to be a leader

Following his impressive run with Leipzig and helping them reach the Champions League semi-final last season, the 22-year-old joined Bayern Munich for a fee of €42.5 million after the Bavarians activated the release clause in his contract.

However, the former Bayern man is not convinced by him being a leader for his former side. He told

BILD

: "Such a young player does not come to Bayern and is the leader. I do not hear him. You cannot be a leader if you are so calm.

"You have to direct, give instructions. I see Lucas Hernandez there!"

With David Alaba announcing his intention to leave the club at the end of the season, Upamecano will try to fill the boots of the Austrian as they bid to continue their dominance on domestic and European fronts.
