Cardiff investigate academy bullying by suspending two staff members

The Championship side has confirmed their investigations into the recent bullying case in their academy as well as suspending two of their staff members.

Cardiff City

confirm a recent investigation done into their academy’s bullying cases with the help of the Football Association and the English Football League by suspending two of their staff members.

The

Championship

club released a statement amid the recent events, which read:

"Cardiff City FC can confirm that it has launched a comprehensive investigation into non-recent allegations of bullying and poor practice relating to the club's Academy."

"The club's head of safeguarding is conducting the investigation, in close liaison with the Football Association and the EFL and in line with the Affiliated Football Bodies process and statutory partner regulations.”

"It is being overseen by the club's board of directors.”

"As a result, two members of the club's Academy staff have been suspended whilst this internal process continues.”

"Cardiff City Football Club takes all safeguarding reports extremely seriously and there are significant reporting mechanisms in place for these to be made, either via the club's safeguarding channels or those provided by national governing bodies and external support agencies."

These investigations started when Craig Bellamy gave up on his position as Cardiff U18s manager for bullying accusations in January 2019.

Still Bellamy was discharged after denying the allegations and he was later assigned as

Anderlecht

under-21 team coach in June 2019.

The investigation reported by Cardiff has hinted  to

"a number of significant concerns"

and it stated that the academy players have been dealing with an

"unacceptable coaching environment"

at the club.
