Sala’s family chooses to take Legal action

Emiliano Sala’s family has taken legal action against his clubs.

Emiliano Sala

died in 2019 in a plane crash at the age of 28, and now his family has taken Legal action against the parts that may have had a role in the accident, including his former club Cardiff City.

They have launched civil proceedings against 13 defendants Cardiff City, FC Nantes, the French club which sold him for a reported £15m.

Here is what Sala family’s lawyer Daniel Machover has said about the matter:

"in order to protect their legal rights and remedies arising from Emiliano's untimely death".

"The family have commenced civil proceedings in the High Court, but will seek agreement to stay those proceedings pending the outcome of the inquest. That makes it all the more important for the inquest date to be fixed, so everyone can plan accordingly.

"Most importantly, the family know that the inquest will provide the answers to the very many questions they have about what went wrong in January 2019 and why Emiliano's life was cut short."

The body of the 59-year-old pilot who was flying the plane has not been recovered yet.
