Manchester United give up on Dayot Upamecano for being right-footed

Based on reports, the Red Devils wish to sign a left-footed player in order to bring balance into their squad, has urged them to shift their attention away from RB Leipzig’s defender.

According to

ESPN

,

Manchester United

have decided to back down from competing against

Bayern Munich

for

RB Leipzig

’s

Dayot Upamecano

after being informed that the defender is right-footed.

The 22-year-old eventually agreed to join Bayern Munich for a release clause of €42.5 million following his impressive run with Leipzig and helping them reach the Champions League semi-final last season.

Harry Maguire

and Victor Lindelof, who are currently occupying the Red Devils defense line are both right-footed and adding another right-footed defender did not seem like a good option for brining balance to the squad.

Therefore, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to sign a left-footed player in the upcoming transfer season once

Phil Jones

leaves Old Trafford and

Axel Tuanzebe

moves to another club on a loan.
