Ex-Barcelona playmaker selected for La Liga ambassador

3 months after announcing his retirement from playing football, Javier Mascherano has been selected as a new ambassador for La Liga.

Mascherano played a total of 334 matches for the Catalan giants from 2010 to 2018 and he was able to be in 147 international caps win for Argentina.

He surprisingly scored just one goal for

Barca

in his eight years there, which was a penalty kick against Osasuna in La Liga in April 2017.

As Marca highlight, he now represents the league around the world and will be officially called as an ambassador on next week's Wednesday in his native Argentina.

The former defensive playmaker had also represented River Plate, Corinthians, West Ham, Liverpool, Hebei China Fortuna, and Estudiantes in his long playing career.
