“Footballers want and dream of never giving up” - Diego Simeone

Atletico Madrid had a 2-1 triumph against Granada at Los Carmenes on Saturday afternoon in La Liga.

Atletico

went eight points ahead of Real Madrid and eleven clear of Barcelona at the top of the league table.

Marcos Llorente scored the first goal for Atletico in the 63rd minute, then Yangel Herrera netted Granada’s equalizer three minutes later.

Llorente provided an assist for Angel Correa in the 74th minute to secure the win for Los Rojiblancos.

“Titles are important, but as a coach what fills you up is when you see the growth of a footballer like Marcos,”

Diego Simeone announced after the match.

“When we see a footballer with the ability to do different things than what he had been doing in his career, we jump on it.

“It happened with Griezmann, with Saul, with Juanfran. Why does it happen? Because footballers want and dream of never giving up. I’d like to look at footage of Marcos training when he wasn’t even starting, we saw him scoring goals and we said this boy cannot be a midfielder.”

Atletico

is a doubleheader against Levante later on, who they play against next week on Wednesday and Saturday.

After that, they play Chelsea in the last 16 of the Champions League the next week.
