Italiano reveals tactical adjustments in Sassuolo win

Spezia came back from a 1-0 defeat at Sassuolo to achieve a precious 2-1 away win on Saturday.

The victory at Mapei Stadium added to Spezia’s collection of away wins. They have previously bagged all the three points at

Napoli, Udinese,

and

Benevento

this season.

“We wanted to make Sassuolo feel uncertain by pressing them all over the pitch and throughout the game, so that worked really well,”

the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s an important victory for us, as there are some moments when we lose our way and then others like this evening where it goes right. It was a convincing performance as well as a great win.”

Decimated

Spezia

used

Kevin Agudelo

as a False 9 to cope with their injuries and bans.

“We needed someone with a lot of pace up there and we’re happy with the results that this tactical change has provided.

“What we must do is find more of a balance, because all it takes is three or four defeats for us to lose our confidence again. If we can emerge from a difficult period of form with a win like this, it means we’ve got the capability, we just need to keep it going.”
