Real Madrid postponed returning to Santiago Bernabeu until next season

It's been almost a year since the last match was held at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium because of an important rebuild program.

Real Madrid

keep playing home matches at the Alfredo di Stefano stadium, home to their Castilla team, and have chosen to stop worrying about the rebuild program by postponing their return to the stadium for the 2021/22 season.

The Covid-19 status has not developed in Spain throughout the campaign and no fans have returned to stadiums, and it may not happen at all this season.

Meanwhile, the construction of the Santiago Bernabeu is supposedly at a good speed and will finish for May-June 2022.

The purpose of rebuilding is to make the stadium more efficient, comfortable, and sustainable.

The Madrid Council, headed by Mayor Manuela Carmena, had accepted the team’s provisional ideas In 2016 but rejected Perez’s plan of building a hotel and shopping center in the facility, in order to increase the team’s resources.

The capacity of the stadium will remain unchanged, a retractable roof will be put in place while the area is to become more fan-friendly, with a car park removed for public space.
