The fans came to the street to celebrate despite the restrictions and lockdown.
A ninety-nine winner won the Copa Libertadores for
Palmeiras. They have beaten
Santos1-0 with a 99th-minutes header by
Breno Lopes. Sao Paulo is buzzing as they have won their first title since 1999. No one knew Lopes before he joined Palmeiras in November. He joined them from the second division but became their hero after scoring the winning goal in the final.
He came to the game in the 8th minute and scored a header in the 99th minutes. The result has driven the people of Sao Paulo crazy as it is the home city of Palmeiras. Although there are tough restriction and a lockdown, the police could not stop the fans to gather in the city.
Few people were using masks and police did their best to make distance between the fans but as always the emotion of football fans is something beyond this kind of restriction. Hundreds of more fans gathered at the club's training ground and the airport, where their plane touched down in the early hours of the morning.
