Reynolds the eighth American player in Serie A
Among the eight American players who moved to Italy, the eighth one is Bryan Reynolds.
Bryan Reynolds
arrived at Rome today and will be medically tested during the next few hours with
Roma. The 19-year-old has also attracted the attention of
Juventusand
Beneventoand became the eighth American player to have moved to Italy, with the first one being
Armando Frigo
from Clinton, Indiana. He featured for Vicenza, Fiorentina, and Spezia from 1939 to 1942.
The second player was
Alexi Lalas
who moved to Padova in 1994 and appeared in 44
Serie Acompetitions, netting two goals during the course of two seasons.
Michael Bradley
was the third one, who holds the record of a US player with most Serie A games of 76 for Chievo and Roma together. Bradley, who wears the captain armband in Toronto and the US Men’s National Team was transferred to Chievo in 2012 and moved to Roma the next season. In January 2013, he joined Toronto.
Among the five Americans out of eight who got their Serie A debut, were also
Josh Perez
and
Weston McKennie
.
Fiorentina’s Perez made his debut in 2016 in a clash against
Inter. He was then transferred to Livorno and featured in 25 Serie C matches in the 2017-18 season.
The two players who did not get any chance to play in Serie A were
Oguchi Onyewu
and
Gabriel Ferrari
. Ferrari was played in one Coppa Italia match Sampdoria’s senior squad. Onyewu, on the other hand, featured in one Champions League clash for Milan during two seasons.
Juventus signed a loan contract with
Weston McKennie
and included an option to purchase the player and will most likely trigger the option by the end of the campaign. The 22-year-old met the target four times for his side this season. He grew up in Little Elm, Texas near Reynold’s birthplace. The two players are going to meet in Serie A.
