Diego Castro set to return to Perth Glory's squad against M.City

Perth Glory has lost their first two matches in Victoria; however, they welcome back their captain in the squad against Melbourne City.

The Glory will have

Diego Castro

for the match against Melbourne City as they endeavor to prevent their third consecutive defeat in the

A-League

.

The 38-year-old skipper missed the initial two rounds of the season with a leg injury; he flew to Melbourne with the team last week for moral support, yet they lost 2-1 to Melbourne Victory.

Head coach Richard Garcia said that he will be mindful of his Spanish captain condition and will utilize him to some extent on Sunday's fixture.

"Diego will be involved on Sunday. He's here," Garcia said.

When talking about the decision not to employ Castro against Victory, Garcia said it had to do with "weighing things up".

"Do we want to rush him back and possibly injure him for longer or take that extra time and give him maybe a little bit more time to heal and make sure that he's 100 per cent?" he said.

The 39-year-old coach said that as a result of the "crazy" timetable of this season, even completely fit players were discovering it to be an extreme trudge.

"If guys that are fully fit and have had all of pre-season under their belt are struggling with that many games in such a short period of time, you don't want to risk someone like Diego for that."

Then the Glory will screen

Andy Keogh

, who played 79 minutes against Victory; however, he looked sore when he got subbed off.

"Andy's pretty sore - three games now on the bounce is tough," Garcia said.

"So we'll review how he's going - he said he was a bit tight in his hamstring and quad."

Perth have had an extreme fixture calendar with away matches; however, Garcia anticipated that his more youthful players should benefit from their trips to Victoria.

"We're growing as a group," he said.

"We've still got additions to the squad that will add a little bit more experience.

"But this is valuable experience for those young guys to be able to come away, albeit in a ridiculous situation where we've got four games in 12 days.

"For them it's a really big learning curve - not only just in how they manage their bodies but in the competition that they're getting as well."
