Everton’s sporting director, Marcel Brands has announced that Real Madrid‘s Colombian international, James Rodriguez moved in on a free transfer.

When the deal was stoke, there was confusion, while no fee reported and then Argentine team Banfield, a team with a stake in any profit made from

James

’ deal, said that the contract was a free transfer.

Seemingly it's true. Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez was eager in cutting the team's wage bill that he willingly gave the high-salary South American, who was one of the remarkable stars at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, away for nothing.

“It was one of the most difficult and weirdest transfer windows ever,”

Brands

announced.

“We signed six new players, one on a free – James Rodriguez.”

James

followed some other players, like Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale, to leave the team in the summer (the latter on loan), while Madrid's fighting amidst the financial fallout of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Recently they’ve been making moves for Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, with the plan being that the savings they made last summer can be recovered in 2021.
