Chelsea not keen to let Ross Barkley leave on the cheap
Aston Villa have to fork out a great sum of money to sign a permanent contract with Chelsea Ross Barkley.
The England international hasn’t really been able to establish himself as a first-team regular in the
Chelseamidfield since joining from Everton in 2018.
And the arrival of
Hakim Ziyech
and
Kai Havertz
restricted his chance and this led him to go out on loan to Villa to play more regularly this season.
The former Everton player joined
Villa
on loan in the summer and impressed for the West Midlands outfit before sustaining a hamstring injury back in a 2-1 defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion.
Prior to an injury to a hamstring, the loan transfer to Aston Villa helped
Ross Barkley
to restore his career.
Barkley has not been on the pitch since November but is predicted to come back as Villa remains on the race for a top-half finish, which is an improvement on last season’s final-day survival.
According to the Birmingham Mail, if the Blues decide to offload Barkley permanently, they would not allow him to leave on the cheap.
Barkley is tied down to Chelsea until 2023, and the report claims that Villa could instead swoop for Bournemouth's David Brooks if a move for Barkley does not come to fruition.
