Leverkusen’s wonderkid ‘dreams of playing for Barcelona’
Florian Wirtz, 17, was fast to jump to the first-team to cover Kai Havertz’s void, who Chelsea for a whopping €80 million deal.
Although it’s only the second season of the teenager,
Wirtz
has established himself as a regular starter in Leverkusen’s 4-1-4-1 squad. The 17-year-old has been among
Leverkusen’s
stars this season as the club facing immense competition for the Champions League spots in the form of
RB Leipzig, Borussia Monchengladbach, Wolfsburg,
and
Borussia Dortmund
. The German attacking midfielder has provided 2 goals and 5 assists during his 13 Bundesliga appearances for the Die Werkself.
Wirtz
has revealed his biggest dream in an interview with Sport1:
“I always want to be the best. As a kid, I have dreamt of playing for Barça. That has not changed, but it can wait.”
