Roberto De Zerbi turned down the Russian club’s offer
It’s been reported by Gazzetta dello Sport that Spartak Moscow tried to lure Sassuolo’s manager away, while their offer was rejected by both the club and the manager.
Sassuolo
experienced a great start to the season under
de Zerbi’s
rule as they are currently sitting in the fourth place of the Serie A’s table with 26 points from their 14 games, above
Napoli
,
Juventus
,
Atalanta
, and
Lazio
.
It’s been reported that the Russian side approached the Italian manager offering a rich three-year contract with €3M annual wages, thrice of
De Zerbi’s
current salary, and a considerable compensation to tempt the Neroverdi to free him up from his deal.
However, the 41-year-old rejected the offer as he said he doesn’t want to put his side in a difficult position.
De Zerbi
joined
Sassuolo
from
Benevento
two years ago and progressively developed the side to a competing Serie A team. He reportedly rejected an offer from
Roma
before they hired
