Saint-Étienne still hopeful to sign Leicester's striker

The French side should figure out a way to be able to afford the financial demands of Islam Slimani.

Le10 Sport reported that

Saint-Étienne

will attempt to sign

Islam Slimani

during the January transfer window. The Leicester City’s striker is not getting playing time this year as he only got a few minutes in the 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa. It was his only presence for the Foxes this year.

Slimani’s contract will be expired in next summer and some clubs, especially those in Ligue 1 are trying to convince him to join them. Today’s edition of L’Equipe looks at the areas where Saint-Étienne need to improve, and it is suggested that a new striker is needed.

Slimani is a target for the French side as he played Claude Puel’s management in

Leicester City

before. Bernard Caïazzo, chairman of the supervisory board, ‘continues to work’ on the Slimani case. Slimani currently earns €380,000 per month in Leicester City. The money is too much for the French side and they should figure out a way to make this move financially realistic.
