Thuram’s father shocked by his son’s actions against Hoffenheim player

The Bundesliga striker was delivered a fine and suspension after spitting on one of Hoeffenheim’s players.

Borussia Monchengladbach

player,

Marcus Thuram

, who spat on

Hoffenheim

player,

Stefan Posch

, during their recent encounter, was given a 6-match ban and €40,000 fine by the German Football Association (DFB) as his club decided to cut his wage for a whole month.

The 23-year-old admitting that his act was not deliberate apologized to Posch while also having to explain his behavior to his World Cup and European Championship winner father,

Lilian Thuram

.

Speaking to

RCI Guadeloupe

, Lilian Thuram said:

"It's completely understandable what is happening in the media. I myself was watching the match, I was extremely shocked.”

"I even asked myself the question of whether that was really my son.”

"Afterwards, I had his explanation, which is to say that he was raging with anger, and so he insulted the opponent and without actually doing it on purpose, he had saliva which came out.”

"What he wants is for people to remember that it's unintentional because he says himself, 'But Dad, I wouldn't want people to think I'm capable of spitting on someone on purpose because it doesn't make sense'."

Marcus Thuram, who explained the incident to his

Nice

player brother, has put his Euro 2020 future with France at risk, but according to his father, the player must endure his sanctions.

"He accepts - and I think it's normal - that he should be punished because indeed, it is a gesture that must not exist on the football field."
