He's been so good for this club – Ake hopes Gurdiola stay at Man City

The Dutch defender is hoping that Man City boss would extend his contract at Etihad.

Nathan Ake

suffered relegation with

Bournemouth

but his quality as a player saved him from playing in the Championship. There was a lot of rumors surrounding Ake’s transfer to

Manchester United

but at the end

Man City

won the race and signed the Dutch defender. Ake joined City with a £40 million fee and hopes to find his place in Citizens’ squad. In a recent interview, the 23-year-old has revealed that one of the reasons he chose Man City was the opportunity to work under Pep Guardiola and he’s not happy that the Spanish coach’s contract at Etihad is near expiring.

“I think the manager has been so good for this club. That's also one of the reasons I joined, so it will be good [if he signs an extension].

“Obviously it's up to him. We focus on this season and he's trying to win titles. So we focus on that first and who knows what comes after.

“I've seen already how he works with the players, how he works with me. He shows me stuff I can improve on.

“I feel like I'm learning. One of the reasons I came here was to work under him and I see myself improving already. Hopefully there's more to come.”

Manchester City will play against Olympiacos on Tuesday before continuing their Premier league campaign with their clash against

Liverpool

on November 8.
