Ancelotti believes Digne red card was a joke

Digne was sent off after stepping on Walker-Pieters achile. Ancelotti believes that it was never a red card and blames Liverpool match for that.

Everton

's unbeaten run did not last long. They suffered their first defeat of the season against

Southampton

James Ward-Prowse

and

Che Adams

scored the goals for

Southampton

.

Everton

, which are currently sitting on the first place in Premier League had to play with 10 men after

Digne

's dangerous challenge on

Walker-Pieters

.

Ancelotti believes that the Van Dijk and Pickford incident at the merseyside derby was the reason that the referee decided to send off Digne. He believes the official's decision was a joke.

"It was a joke, the red card, because it was not intentional,"

Ancelotti

told Sky Sports. "Maybe it can be a yellow but for sure it was not violent conduct. They could check it better.

"Maybe all the rumours, all week against Pickford, against Richarlison, affected the decision. If it is like this, it's not right, it's not fair. We are going to appeal, for sure."
