Best American soccer players ever

Here we list the best American soccer players ever existed.

The United States does not have the same history as many of the most successful footballing nations in Europe or South America when it comes to soccer.

Given that they have been successfully producing some of the best American footballers of all time for the past three decades, they have managed to gently but surely claw their way into prominence.

They hosted the 1994 World Cup, which also marked the beginning of Major League Soccer, their own domestic league.

Although if MLS currently falls short of the top European leagues in terms of overall quality, it's crucial to remember that those other countries have a century's worth of growing footballers.

This is not to say that there weren't any good players representing the United States; just the opposite is true.

Throughout the years, America has produced a variety of good and even great players, some of whom rank among the best American footballers of all time and would certainly be considered iconic figures if they had the good fortune to be born in Italy, Spain, Brazil, Germany, or Argentina.

Instead, the small group of Americans who identify as soccer fans just admire them.
