The Premier League race towards Ronald Araujo

A press report reveals the details of the deal and its future variables

A Spanish press report stated on Monday evening that one of the clubs in the English Premier League has joined the race to sign Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo from Barcelona.

Bayern Munich is the most interested in signing Araujo, and this starts from next season.

Araujo has a valid contract with Barcelona until June 2026, but it contains a penalty clause worth one billion euros, which has aroused the interest of clubs to gain his skills within their ranks.

According to the Catalan newspaper “Sport”, Aston Villa coach, Unai Emery, and the club’s sports director, Monchi, were present at the Barcelona and Valencia match last April.

The newspaper explained that the duo spoke amicably with Barcelona officials about potential deals in the future, and several names were discussed, but Araujo was among the most interested.

The newspaper confirmed that Emery and Monchi informed Barcelona of their desire to include Araujo and submit an official offer in the event that Aston Villa qualifies for the Champions League next season, which is the goal that was achieved after Tottenham lost to Manchester City last week.

The newspaper pointed out that the potential financial offer that Aston Villa may offer will not reach 80 million euros under any circumstances, which is the value that Barcelona is said to have set to sell Araujo.
