Refusal of Al-Hilal’s Request to Postpone the Match Against Al-Ahli

The Saudi Professional League Association issued a statement on Saturday in response to circulating rumors regarding its rejection of Al-Hilal’s request to postpone their match against Al-Ahli.

Al-Hilal had requested the postponement while anticipating their upcoming clash with UAE’s Al-Ain in the AFC Champions League semi-final.

According to the association’s statement, discussions had already taken place with Fahad Al-Muwallad, Al-Hilal’s Director of Football, regarding the remaining fixtures of the current sports season. However, the association declined to postpone the match due to the significant pressure Al-Hilal would face if they advanced to the AFC Champions League final.

The association clarified that it did not respond to Al-Hilal using the phrase “this is the price a club pays when competing in all tournaments.” Furthermore, Al-Hilal had requested a review of the remaining fixtures in the Roshan League, particularly their own matches. However, the association explained that any adjustments to the schedule were impossible due to the negative impact it would have on all clubs.

The decision not to postpone the match is based on sporting and technical considerations related to the match schedule and tournament organization. The association emphasizes the importance of adhering to pre-established schedules to ensure the smooth and organized progression of the championship, while taking into account the unique circumstances of each club without compromising the overall interests of the league
