Al-Ain Emirates Return to the Top with Victory over Ahli

Al-Ain Emirates resumed their winning streak with a 2-1 triumph over Ahli Turkmenistan at the Ashgabat Stadium. This victory came in the sixth and final round of the group stage in the 2023-2024 AFC Champions League.

With this win, Al-Ain solidified their lead in the group, finishing with 15 points from 6 matches. Meanwhile, Ahli gathered only 4 points, securing the fourth position. It's worth noting that Al-Ain had already secured a spot in the Round of 16 after the fourth round.

The match started at a moderate pace, with the early moments being calm until the referee awarded a penalty to Al-Ain in the 13th minute for a handball in Ahli's penalty area. Soufiane Rahimi successfully converted the penalty, scoring the first goal for Al-Ain.

Maintaining their offensive prowess, Al-Ain's Omer Atzili provided a cross in the 24th minute to Rahimi, who faced Ahli's goalkeeper directly, but the goalkeeper made a remarkable save.

In the 30th minute, Atzili, having been fouled in the box, earned a penalty that was confidently converted into the second goal by Omer Atzili in the 32nd minute.

Kwame, Al-Ain's defender, made a mistake in clearing a cross in the 35th minute, and Ahli's Mamayev capitalized on this error, scoring a goal for Ahli.

In the 42nd minute, Mohamed Shaker, Al-Ain's goalkeeper, saved his team from a certain goal by deflecting the ball before it crossed the goal line.

The second half saw a back-and-forth battle for control between the two teams. In the 74th minute, Tajiev posed a real threat with a powerful shot, but Al-Ain's goalkeeper, Khaled Issa, skillfully saved it and turned it into a corner kick.

Khaled Issa repeated his brilliance in the 79th minute, turning another shot from Ahli into a corner kick. In the 88th minute, Rahimi unleashed a powerful shot for Al-Ain, but Ahli's goalkeeper blocked it, turning it into a corner kick.

In the dying moments of injury time, the crossbar denied Mamayev's shot, depriving Ahli of an equalizing goal in the 90+6th minute.
