Maurizio Sarri: ‘Juventus deserved two red cards against Lazio’

Sarri admits Lazio's first goal could have been disallowed, but he also thinks Juventus had a couple of extra players on the pitch because of Locatelli and Cuadrado.

Juventus were furious that a goal by Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was allowed to stand, but

Lazio

coach Maurizio Sarri also had complaints.

"From where I was, my impression is that the referee could have called for a foul,"

He told DAZN

. "But I also got the impression Juve could have ended with nine men.

"There was a Locatelli foul that was worthy of a red card and Cuadrado should have had a second yellow card. That was clear when he was substituted off straight after."

Despite already knowing they were safe in second place, Lazio beat Juventus 2-1 to further consolidate their position.

“I am proud of the attitude of these players. The consistency we achieved months ago in training is slowly starting to bleed through to the match situations,”

“The team plays with a different spark, aggression and confidence, it is always in the game and that pleases me.”

“Sometimes the points look like there are many, sometimes there are few. The truth is there are 27 points up for grabs, as I said before, it is not easy now, just as it was not impossible a few weeks ago when we were trailing.”
