Breaking: Leicester sacks Brendan Rodgers after Crystal Palace defeat

A 2-1 last-minute defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday sent Leicester City to 19th place in the Premier League table. As a result, the club decided to sack their head coach, Brendan Rodgers.

Sitting 19th in the Premier League with 25 points, Leicester City finally lost their patience with Brendan Rodgers on Sunday as they announced he has been dismissed from his job. The news comes right after the Foxes' 2-1 defeat to relegation rivals Crystal Palace on Saturday. Assistant manager Chris Davies and first-team fitness coach Glen Driscoll have also been dismissed while first-team coaches Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell will take charge in the short term.

Club's chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said:

"Performances and results during the current season have been below our shared expectations. It had been our belief that continuity and stability would be key to correcting our course, particularly given our previous achievements under Brendan’s management.

"Regrettably, the desired improvement has not been forthcoming and, with 10 games of the season remaining, the Board is compelled to take alternative action to protect our Premier League status."
