Sterling and Alexander-Arnold left out of England squad for Euro 2024 qualifiers

Southgate on Thursday confirmed his 25-player squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine.

are the biggest names who have been left out of the squad, while Southgate has invited Brentford star Ivan Toney. Reece James and Ben Chilwell who both missed the World Cup due to injuries also have been included in the list.

Southgate said he did not select Sterling due to fitness concerns.

"Raheem is not fit. I would have selected him if he was,"

Southgate confirmed.

On Toney, who is under investigation for alleged breaches of FA betting rules, Southgate said:

"He is playing for his club and available for them. There hasn't been a trial or any judgement so I don't know on what basis we wouldn't pick him.

"Ivan has been consistent across the season. He is playing really well. I like his presence in games. I saw his game against Arsenal where he was outstanding and he deserves his opportunity."
