Ancelotti denies feud with Hazard claiming Vinicius' form sidelined him

Having not played a single minute for Real Madrid after the World Cup break, Hazard claimed that he and the Los Blancos boss don't talk with each other anymore. Refuting a cold relationship, Ancelotti insists their relationship is ordinary.

After joining Real Madrid from Chelsea in a deal worth €100 million in 2019, Eden Hazard failed to live up to expectations as he has scored only seven goals in 73 matches for Real Madrid.

The Belgian winger said earlier that he and Carlo Ancelotti "don't talk to each other". However, Ancelotti insists Vinicius’ marvelous form has limited Hazard’s game-time, scoring 19 goals and providing 9 assists across all competitions.

Asked about those comments ahead of Madrid's Wednesday Champions League game against Liverpool, Ancelotti said: "

The relationship is not cold.

"I don't talk much with him, but talking is a matter of character. Sometimes you talk more with one person than with another, it happens when you have kids as well!

"I respect Hazard, I value his thoughts. That's the most important thing, as far as I'm concerned.

"He's not playing because there is so much competition, because Vinicius is playing in his position and doing very well."

Hazard has just over 12 months remaining on his current contract. Asked about the former Chelsea winger's future, Ancelotti said:

"For next year I have the players that the club makes available to me."

Despite his form, the Brazilian has attracted criticism in Spain for his attitude towards referees. However, Ancelotti rather focus on his extraordinary talents.

"I think he's progressed a lot, he's come a long way and his attitude is good,"

Ancelotti said of Vinicius.

"He has to focus on playing. That's what he does well.

"I think he is on the right track to write the history of Real Madrid in the coming years, as [Luka] Modric, Karim [Benzema] and Casemiro have done and others continue to do. Our group has been fantastic."
