Capello compares Juve Calciopoli's scandal with their point deduction

Roma will face a Juventus side that sits two places below them after a hefty 15-point deduction in January on Sunday. Capello, who managed both of the clubs, gives his verdict on the game, Paulo Dybala, and the Bianconeri’s point deduction.

Before the clash between Roma and Juventus, Fabio Capello who has managed both teams during his coaching career told

: “

Juve were very entertaining and effective against Torino, finally they have an abundance of players to choose from and therefore Max Allegri has different options for how to win games.

“On the other side, Roma lost to a Cremonese side that hadn’t won a single Serie A game yet, so now they are out to prove themselves. Let’s also not forget the atmosphere of a packed Stadio Olimpico.

“I say it’s 50-50. Roma are very effective on set plays, where Juve have show some weaknesses in defending, so that could be an intriguing element.”

After receiving a red card against Cremonese, Jose Mourinho was suspended for two matches. However, the suspension is temporarily lifted as the Portuguese will be able to accompany his side against Juve.

Capello added:

“It would’ve been sad to have this game without him and I think nowhere more than in Italy are coaches sent off so easily. I never heard anyone offend a referee to the point where he deserved to be sent off.

“That’s just silly. Mourinho said some things that were understandable, but once he went to ‘the referee is from Turin,’ well that’s got nothing to do with anything.”

Capello won two Serie A titles with Juventus in 2005 and 2006, which both were revoked in the Calciopoli scandal. The Bianconeri faced a 15-point deduction for artificially inflating transfer fees with Capello drawing similarities with his own predicament from 2006.

“What they’ll feel is angry. If we look at the table, then look at what they achieved, they’ll be asking: what has this got to do with us? Similarly, my Juventus won the title on the field, we earned those points on the field, but then…

“I see that the team now has the determination and belief to catch up to those in front of them.”

On Paulo Dybala's return to Juventus as a Roma player, he said: “

I’ve never seen Dybala in such good shape as this season. He runs, can make physical challenges, is ready to battle, track back and regain possession. I rarely saw him do that at Juventus."
