After Neuer’s recent controversy about Tapalovic sacking, Bayern appoint new goalkeeping coach

It seems the saga of Bayern Munich’s goalkeeping coach is finally at the end as Michael Rechner replaces Tapalovic.

Bayern Munich have appointed Michael Rechner to replace Toni Tapalovic as their goalkeeping coach.

Tapalovic’s dismissal was followed by a wave of controversy as Manuel Neuer severely criticized

Bayern Munich

’s hierarchy about the decision. This was then followed by comments from CEO Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic who both slammed Neuer’s comments. Bayern president Herbert Hainer also echoed their position in his comments as well.

Neuer

, who broke his leg in a skiing incident, will be out for the season and has since been replaced by former Gladbach shot-stopper Yann Sommer. It is unclear whether he will be stripped of his captaincy upon his return.

Rechner previously worked in Hoffenheim since 2015.
