Barca’s deal for Amrabat breaks down as Fiorentina reject their offer

After not reaching an agreement on the structure of the deal, Viola pulls out of the deal.

Morocco and Fiorentina’s star midfielder

Sofyan Amrabat

was Barcelona’s main target in the deadline day but the Blaugrana failed to reach an agreement with Fiorentina who eventually rejected their offer.

It was reported earlier that Barcelona made an official bid to sign the 26-year-old World Cup star, structured as a loan deal with an option to buy but the Italian club has rejected Barca’s offer as they do not want to sell their best player in the January window.

Amrabat, who helped Morocco reach a record semi-final in the World Cup, was sought after by many clubs after the tournament, especially the Premier League clubs. However, Fiorentina has been adamant not to sell him.

With Amrabat’s deal collapsing, it is unlikely that

Barca

could sign another midfielder before the window is shut for good tonight.
