Barcelona trying to sign World Cup star Sofyan Amrabat on loan

Barcelona is working to sign Fiorentina Sofyan Amrabat on loan on the final day of the transfer window.

According to journalist Gerard Romero,

Barcelona

wants to sign

Amrabat

on a loan deal until the end of the season, with no option to buy.

Amrabat has been linked with a host of clubs including Liverpool and Atletico Madrid since the World Cup, where he made it to the semi-finals of the tournament with Morocco.

Fiorentina reportedly wants €30m to sell Amrabat, and it remains to be seen whether they let him leave the club on loan in the final 24 hours of the January transfer window.

Morocco star spoke with Marca about his future in December.

“I’m proud to be linked with top clubs like Barcelona and Atletico. But I’m a Fiorentina player, I respect the club and I have a great relationship with the president,”

he told Marca.

“We also have a good coach at Fiorentina but…yes, I like Cholo’s style.”

The 26-year-old Amrabat joined

Fiorentina

in 2020 and has played in 82 matches for the Italian club, playing 17 games in Serie A this season, being under contract with them until 2024.

Barcelona currently is five points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga after 18 matches.
