Which Premier League teams have the best fanbase?

The Premier League is the most popular and viewed football league. The numbers of the premier league compared to other top leagues are way far ahead.

If we talk about viewership, sponsors, money, fans, or social media presence, the premier league beats all. But why is that? Well, the primary reason is the language. Because English is a universal and most spoken language, the premier league easily reaches the masses.

The top 20 teams play in the league, though there are more teams that are unable to qualify. All teams battle out every season in home and away format to be crowned the champions.

Speaking of which, only seven teams have won the premier league championship. Manchester United has won the title for the

most number of times

 (13) since the league formation in 1992-93.

Followed by Man City with 6 wins and Chelsea with 5, and Arsenal with 3 premier league titles.

The victories play a significant role in teams’ popularity and expansion of fanbase. It is because the rivalry among fans is fierce, and they take losses or wins personally.

Further, no fan wants their team to end on a losing side as it reflects on the social media following. Even sponsors and brands like to work with teams that have loyal and large fan bases so they could reach a maximum audience.

Now let’s look into the most popular teams of the premier league in 2023.

1. Manchester United is at the top of the list, with almost 200 million followers across platforms. It is also the third most popular club in the world.

There are many reasons behind its fame, and the first would be the number of premier league titles. Moreover, Man United has produced legends of the game and has given some iconic matches of all time.

2. A lot of credit also goes to Sir Alex Ferguson, who changed the fate of Man United. He also holds the record for the longest manager. When Sir Alex joined Man U,  Liverpool had more titles.

After his tenure, Man United won 12 league titles averaging once every two years. We have also witnessed legends like Sir Bobby and George Best play for the club and Stalwarts like David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Such players attract a massive number of fans, which results in more fan following.

3. Chelsea sits at the second spot, with over 127 million following. It is a well-recognized club in the whole of Europe with two Champions League titles.

The team has always been highly competitive and has a strong bench and quality players. It was Roman Abramovich, a Russian businessperson, who changed the complexion of the club.

He brought tactically sound managers, fresh minds, and new generational talent to play for the club.

The signing of Eden Hazard and Fernando Torres was a great deal for the Blues to an extent that their shirt sales were in the top 10 in the UK and the world in the 2012-13 season. Besides, their home ground, Stamford Bridge, is always at full capacity.

4. Liverpool has the third most fan following in the premier league with over 126 million fans. From the current roster of Liverpool, Mohamed Salah is the most followed on Instagram.

Before the premier league was formed, Liverpool was ahead of every club in terms of success, and considering all the divisional titles, Liverpool is the most successful team in European football.

It has won six Champions League titles and 19 English divisional titles. The likes of Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Ian Rush, Virgil Van Dijk, and many more took the club to new heights and clinched victories when needed the most.

As per a recent survey, Liverpool has surpassed Man United and become the most popular football club in America. It is important to have high competition in the premier league to keep an interesting affair when

The City is also defending champions and currently has over 110 million followers across platforms. But, with their current form and wins all over the world, soon the numbers will drastically rise.

In the dramatic turn of events, from a humiliating 8-1 loss to multiple times premier league champions, such turnarounds create noise and hype up fans.

The recent phase of Pep Guardiola will be remembered for a long time because of his masterful tactics and contributions to the team’s success.
