Chelsea’s transfer mania continues as they agree to sign Lyon defender Malo Gusto
Chelsea reach an agreement with OL Lyon to sign right-back Malo Gusto for €30 million (£26m/$32m)
Chelsea’s seventh signing of the January transfer window is the French right-back
Malo Gustofrom Lyon who will join the Blues in the summer for €30 million, spending the rest of the season on loan at Lyon.
Chelsea’s first bid for the defender was rejected by Lyon who are notoriously good when it comes to transfer negotiations.
The 19-year-old Gusto will be looked at as cover for Reece James, who has been beset by injuries lately and is in fact, out with an injury right now. Without James, Chelsea are looking thin on the right flank.
Malo Gusto was also looked at by Manchester United but it seems
Chelsea’s dire need of recruitment in that area, has forced them to act. It is thought that with enough game time in the second half of the season Gusto will be able to garner enough experience to challenge James, also playing as his back-up.
Todd Boehly and Co. have shown that they mean business when it comes to transfer this season as they have now signed their seventh January signing.
