Abraham calls Portugal’s Mourinho interest an ‘honor’

Tammy Abraham lauds “like an uncle” Jose Mourinho for his style amidst rumor of the Portuguese tactician managing Brazil or Portugal.

AS Roma striker

Tammy Abraham

claims it’s an “honor” that the Portuguese national team want to hire Jose Mourinho as their manager.

With Fernando Santos gone at Portugal, there have been a lot of rumors, especially around Jose Mourinho, connecting him with the job as well as a possibility of him managing Brazil. But there haven’t been anything concrete yet.

Former Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham, opened up about the rumors to Gazzetta dello Sport, saying:

“He is a great coach and of course, everyone wants him. It's an honour that an important country like Portugal chases him.

“I am sure the coach is focused on Roma. We've read many things, but we didn't talk about them and Mourinho has always tried to make us improve, we are focused on the season.”

Abraham went on to elaborate on his relationship with Mourinho as a coach.

“I already said it in the past, to me, having him here is like having an uncle.”

Abraham said.

“That's how I've always seen the coach. He is a reference point and he wants the best from me, so he motivates me in every way. He tells me when I don't play well and even when I do so, he is not satisfied. That's what I need. A coach who always guides me.”

After having a stellar debut season with

Roma

where he scored 17 goals and assisted 4 times in the Serie A, Abraham’s form has dipped considerably this season. The English striker who narrowly missed Southgate’s World Cup squad due to inconsistent form, has only scored 4 goals in all competitions since the start of the season.
