"Missing the World Cup wasn't a big disappointment", says Tammy Abraham

AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham says missing the World Cup for England was not a big disappointment.

Abraham

was not included in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad for the

2022 World Cup

due to his poor goalscoring form this season. England was eliminated from the World Cup after losing 2-1 to France in the quarter-final.

The English striker said it was not a big disappointment and insisted these things make him stronger.

“I wouldn’t say big. It was a disappointment, surely. Of course, I wasn’t happy,”

Abraham told Gazzetta.

“But these things make you stronger, leaving that desire to do more and improve. My career has been characterised by these moments, also in the past. I am still young, I have many years ahead and I am sure I will have time to take part in another World Cup. Now, I am only focused on Roma and I want to help the club do more in the present and the future.”

The 25-year-old Abraham joined

Roma

from Chelsea in a deal worth £34 million in 2021. He scored 27 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions last season but he managed to score only 4 goals this season.

“These things happen in football, this time it was me having highs and lows,” he said. “It happened to other players before and it will happen again. Last season everything went the right way for me. This time I had a slow start, it’s true, but the team and I want to get revenge. I am convinced these moments make you stronger in the long run.”
