Pioli wants Milan to rack up as much points as they can before the WC

The Rossoneri manager wants his team to win as much points as they can before the World Cup break happens.

Stefano Pioli believes that his Milan side are capable of breaking Serie A records and closing the gap between themselves and Napoli, who are firing on all cylinders at the moment. The defending Champions, Milan are once again very much in the title race as was the case in the past couple of years.

Pioli’s team was beaten by Spalletti’s Napoli this season, which remains as their only defeat in the league but the Milan manager insists that his players must be wary of any gaps between them and Napoli, when it comes to points.

With the World Cup on its way and a 7-week break for all club competitions, Pioli wants his team to go to that break on a high note.

"We started at the beginning of the season with two objectives: to be as advanced as possible in the league on November 13 and to overcome the group in the Champions League,"

Pioli said.

"We have many important games in a few days, but the team are doing well,"

Pioli said.

"I have players who are available and strong.

"I will field those who I consider appropriate to win these challenges. Tomorrow is the most important, we are prepared to face it in the best possible way.

"We need to score as many points as possible. It will not be decisive to be first on November 13, but you have to get above 85 points. The more games you win now, the better."

Milan are set to have a tough game against Torino tomorrow, and Pioli wants "quality and personality" from his players on tomorrow’s game.

"We want to give continuity by looking for a streak of results as long as possible. Napoli are doing very well and winning on Sunday would be important,"

Pioli said.
