Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo to miss three to four months

Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo is set to undergo surgery this weekend and is expected to be out of action for three to four months.

who has played just 13 minutes since joining Liverpool on a season-long loan from

Juventus

on transfer deadline day, will be out of action for a few months and will miss the World Cup. Naby Keita, Andy Robertson, Curtis Jones, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all still on the sidelines.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed on Friday that Arthur had sustained an injury in training and now the English press reports that he undergoes surgery this weekend.

after failing to sign Aurelien Tchouameni or Jude Bellingham and injuries to their midfielders on the last days of the transfer window decided to sign a midfielder. Liverpool paid around £4m to sign Arthur on loan and can buy him permanently for around £33m in the summer.

The 26-year-old Arthur played between 2018 to 2020 with Barcelona and then joined Juventus. He played in 65 matches for the Italian club and won the Coppa Italia in 2021.

Arthur also has played in 22 matches for Brazil and was part of the team that won the Copa America in 2019.

Liverpool is in 10th place in the Premier League table with 10 points after seven matches. They are 13 points behind Man City who has played two more games. Klopp's side will face Arsenal on Sunday.
