Eriksen believes United lacked courage in the 6-3 derby humiliation

In an eventful Manchester Derby, City dominated Manchester United with a 6-3 victory. The Red Devils midfielder admits his side's performance in the derby was “Far from acceptable”.

Phil Foden and Erling Haaland scored twice in the first half of the Manchester derby as the teams headed to dressing rooms after the half-time whistle with a decisive 4-0 scoreline. A 56th-minute goal from

Manchester United

's Brazilian winger, Antony, gave the visitors the hope of a comeback. However, City responded quickly to shut these hopes as

Haaland

and

Foden

scored again to make it 6-1 for

Manchester City

. A late brace from Anthony Martial consolated the result for United as the Manchester derby ended with a 6-3 home victory for the Citizens.

The Citizens put an end to United’s 4-game victory run in a game they dominated their arch-rivals from the first minute.

Christian Eriksen,

who joined United this summer, told his post-match interview with

Sky Sports

:

"I think it came very heavy. I think everyone feels it as a very bad day at the office.

"We started on the wrong foot. They had a lot of chances straight from kick-off, and I think we can only blame ourselves for not coming into the game at any point.

"We missed a bit of courage to play out from the back, and we let them be in their strength."

Man United

sits 6th on the Premier League table two points behind the fourth-placed Brighton and one point behind Chelsea. Eriksen urged his side to bounce back as soon as they return to the training ground on Monday.

He added:

"I think the main focus after this game will be on ourselves. There's a lot of things we need to change, a lot of things we need to do better.

"Today was far from acceptable for what we should be doing."
