Fans should support the team, Boateng defends Germany

Germany have been subjected to criticism for their recent performances and results; however, the former defender believes the supporters need to relax.

Jerome Boateng

, the former Germany defender, has joked about the criticisms regarding the national team before the World Cup in Qatar, saying that there are “80 million national coaches.”

Following their 3-3 draw with England in the Nations League on Monday, it has been determined that Germany ended their Group A3 sitting third, having grabbed one victory from six games. Their poor start to the Nations League and their failure in winning questioned Hansi Flick’s abilities. Boateng, however, thinks fans should quit judging the team until after the World Cup.

"Shortly before the World Cup we have 80 million national coaches again,"

Boateng wrote in an Instagram story, alongside a laughing emoji. He played 76 times for his national team between 2009 and 2018.

"We have a strong team, we can beat any opponent and become world champions. We have young players in all positions.

"How about approaching the World Cup in a positive way and not criticising the team and bringing in unrest?

"Stay positive and support the team together. After the World Cup you can add your two cents again."
