Mikel Arteta and Erling Haaland win Premier League August Awards

Winning all five of their opening Premier League games, Arteta helped the Gunners reach the top of the table. While the FA awarded the Spaniard, Haaland’s outstanding performance hasn’t gone unnoticed as he’s been awarded as August Player of the Month.

Mikel Arteta

was named Premier League's

August Manager of the Month

facing competition from Man City's

Pep Guardiola

and the newly-appointed Chelsea boss

Graham Potter

. The Spanish tactician led

Arsenal

to the top of the

Premier League

table winning all of their August league fixtures. Their winning run was cut short when the Gunners lost 3-1 at

Manchester United

in their first outing of September.

After narrowly missing out on the

Champions League

last season, Mikel Arteta bolstered his squad by signing

Gabriel Jesus

and

Oleksandr Zinchenko

from Manchester City.

 

Erling Haaland

also was named the Premier League’s Player of the Month after the Norwegian scored nine goals in five outings during his first month in the Premier League. His tally includes back-to-back hat-tricks in

Manchester City

's victories over Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest. Arsenal striker

Gabriel Jesus

and Fulham's

Aleksandar Mitrovic

were the notable nominees for the award.

The Norwegian also has netted in each of his first three away Premier League games as he had an outstanding Champions League performance as well. Scoring a brace against

Sevilla

before helping City to complete their 2-1 comeback victory over his former side,

Dortmund

, with a magnificent goal.
