Man City's Benjamin Mendy found not guilty in one of 10 rape cases

The 28-year-old left-back, who has allegedly committed sexual offenses against seven women between October 2018 and August of the last year, found not guilty of one count of rape at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday. Co-accused Louis Saha Matturie was also found not guilty in the same case.

The trial against the

Manchester City

defender started in January as he appeared in court to plead not guilty to all of the 10 sexual assault charges. Spending 134 days in custody,

Benjamin Mendy

was charged with nine counts of assaults involving six alleged victims on August 26.

Mendy has been a Manchester City player since 2018 when he arrived for £49.3 million from

Monaco

. He was suspended by the club after being charged by police.

However, following his trial at Chester Crown Court,

Mendy has been found not guilty

of the rape of a 19-year-old woman at his home in Prestbury, Cheshire. After the defendant's prosecution offered no further evidence and formal,

Judge Stephen Everett

ordered the jury to clear that particular rape case as finding the duo not guilty.

However, both Mendy and

Louis Saha Matturie

, the co-accused, remain on trial for multiple alleged sexual offenses with 9 cases already going on through the legal process.
