Manchester United target Milenkovic extends contract with Fiorentina

The 24-year-old defender, who was being monitored by several elite clubs, finally ends the speculations about his future by signing a contract renewal with the Serie A side that runs until 2027.

Manchester United

, Arsenal, and Tottenham were among the clubs who have been linked with a move for the Serbia international, with Milan and

Juventus

already making contact with the Florence club.

However,

Nikola Milenkovic

insists he is happy to stay with the Viola as he signed a five-year deal to remain at Stadio Artemio Franchi.

"

Talking to the club, I realized there is great ambition, the club is growing continuously, and it was very important for me that the coach was confirmed in his role,"

he said.

"I also thank the fans, who gave me so much affection over the years, especially recently. I feel loved here.

"The directors did great work to keep me here and give me the opportunity to continue my career here. I am very happy with the choices I made. I took some time to think carefully and I am very happy with my decision."

The 24-year-old Milenkovic has featured in 34 games for

Fiorentina

last season. He met the back of the net three times and helped Fiorentina keep nine clean sheets. Bagging a total of 37 international appearances, his last appearance for Serbia came in the World Cup Qualifier draw with Portugal in March.
