Liverpool extends Diogo Jota's contract until 2027

The Portuguese star will stay at Anfield until 2027.

Liverpool striker Diogo Jota extended his contract with this club.

The 25-year-old forward has scored 34 goals in 85 appearances for the club since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2020 and is said to be under contract until 2027. Jota joins Mohamed Salah, who also extended his contract with the club in the summer. Sadio Mane left Anfield for Bayern Munich.

The Portuguese star has been absent from Liverpool's pre-season training with a hamstring injury and is expected to miss Saturday's league opener against Fulham.

Jota told club's website:

"Well, (I'm) really proud, I have to say.

"Obviously since I arrived two years ago I established myself as an important player in this team - that's what I wanted from the beginning.

"Now, signing a new long-term deal, it's obviously from the club's perspective proof of the belief in myself as a player. For me, obviously it's really good to establish I'll be here for a while."
