Jorginho: Koulibaly will help Chelsea on and off the field
Chelsea midfielder Jorginho believes Kalidou Koulibaly will help them on and off the field.
The 31-year-old center-back joined Chelsea from Napoli for €40m. Jorginho who played with Koulibaly in Napoli says Chelsea has made an extraordinary signing.
“I think Koulibaly represents a very, very positive signing for the club,”
said Jorginho ahead of a friendly against Serie A side Udinese.
“He is not just a great player, we all know that, and he will help not only on the pitch but also in the locker room. He is a really wonderful guy.”
The former Napoli midfielder also has revealed he played a role in Koulibaly’s decision to join Chelsea. Jorginho and Koulibaly played in 111 matches together from 2014 to 2018.
“I did send him a few messages and some phone calls, telling him to come on, what are you waiting for? We’ve got to play together again and we haven’t got much time left!
“I really hoped the move would go through and I am very happy that it did.”
Chelsea has signed Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly but they miss out on Raphinha and Jules Kounde as both players decided to join Barcelona.
