Fabrizio Romano: William Carvalho to leave Betis for Nottingham Forest

Although Carvalho enjoyed an excellent season under Pellegrini at the Benito Villamarin the last term, the club faces the financial struggle that forces them to sell to bring in new players this summer, giving the Premier League new-comers a perfect opportunity to land an experienced midfielder.

According to the renowned journalist,

Fabrizio Romano

, Nottingham Forest is interested in Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho. The Portuguese international is reportedly a priority target for

Forest

as negotiations between the two clubs go on. The Spanish outfit has to make a decision, especially with his contract due to expire this time next year.

Being linked with former players Hector Bellerin and Dani Ceballos,

Betis

need to make sales to afford them, and the 30-year-old Carvalho has been identified as an asset that they could potentially do without.

Romano

tweeted:

"Nottingham Forest top priority for the midfield is William Carvalho. Talks on – been told there’s strong interest in the Portuguese midfielder.

“Huge opportunity for William in the Premier League with ambitious club like NFFC, pushing to sign him as priority target.”

William Carvalho

came through the ranks at Sporting Lisbon, making 191 appearances for the Portuguese giants. He moved to La Liga in 2018 to join Real Betis, where he's played for four seasons, making 135 appearances for the reigning Copa del Rey holders. He also has lifted the Nations League title with his country and claimed 73 caps in total on the international stage with Portugal.
