Jan Oblak pens a contract extension with Atletico until 2028

Jan Oblak has penned a new contract with Atletico Madrid that will bound him until 2028, as per reports from David Medina.

’s last contract was going to be expired at the end 2022-23 season but his new deal will keep him until 2028.

The Slovenian international, who has been capped 50 times, started his career with Olimpija Ljubljana before making a move to

Benfica

in 2010. He played the next four season for the Portuguese club but did not live up to the expectations in Lisbon. He played for Beira-Mar, Olhanense, Uniao de Leira and Rio Ave on loan deals.

However, Oblak joined

Atletico Madrid

after that in 2014 and has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe. He has featured in 352 matches for the Spanish side, contributing to the La Liga victory in the 2020-21 season and he kept 175 clean sheets.
