Alphonse Areola, the goalkeeper for Paris Saint-Germain, has agreed to a five-year deal with West Ham.
The Hammers will now pay the option price of £11 million for the 29-year-old player. Areola is expected to sign the deal at the club in the next 24 hours. After that, the deal will be made public.
Areola joined West Ham last summer on loan, but West Ham kept the right to buy him. West Ham thinks this is a great deal because other teams, like Newcastle, were also interested. West Ham has made an offer to Jesse Lingard's agent about taking him on as a free agent.
The midfielder's contract with Manchester United ends on July 1, making him a free agent. The Hammers are thought to be "hopeful" that a deal can be made. Lingard spent the second half of the 2020-21 season on loan at West Ham, where he played well and scored nine goals in 16 Premier League games. In January, Newcastle tried to sign Lingard.
