Milan talk to Roma defender Ibanez as possible replacement for Botman
Roger Ibanez's agent was sighted at Milan's headquarters today; he appears to be Lille's Sven Botman's replacement.
When
Ludovico Spinosi
was caught on camera walking into Casa Milan and leaving after an hour-long meeting, everyone tried to figure out who he was talking to them about.
He acts as a middleman for
Manchester City's
Gabriel Jesusand the midfielder Reinier, who plays for
Real Madrid. Radio says, though, that he was talking about the position of
Ibanez
, who plays center back for Roma.
The 23-year-old player was bought from
Atalanta
, first on loan and then for good in January 2020 for €9 million-plus bonuses. If he is sold before June 2024, Atalanta is also due an extra €1 million, which is 10% of the sell-on fee.
Ibanez is one of the players who Jose Mourinho has used the most at Roma. He has played 51 times in games and scored four goals. There are rumors that Roma wants to go back to a four-at-the-back defense next season. If this is true, Ibanez could be up for sale.
Milan is having a hard time getting Botman from Lille because Newcastle United is offering much more than their €15 million plus bonuses. Ibanez would be a cheaper option who already knows Serie A and is still young.
