Germany thrash Italy 5-2 in the Nations League

Timo Werner met the back of the net twice with Germany vanquished the Azzurri in the Nations League to win their first game of the campaign.

had their first victory of the Nations League campaign as they vanquished Italy 5-2 in Monchengladbach.

’s side have drawn their last three Group C games 1-1 but they were dominant at Borussia-Park, easily thrashing the European champions.

It was 10th minutes into the game when Joshua Kimmich met the target and Germany did not look back. Thomas Muller also netted in the second half following Ilkay Gundogan’s goal from the penalty spot.

Although Gianluigi Donnarumma did good for Kimmich’s opener, he could have done better to prevent Gundogan doubling Germany’s lead.

Donnarumma could not prevent Werner’s first foal but for the second goal from the player, he was at fault.

Despite Bastoni trying to push back in the stoppage time to net for his side, it was not enough to stop

's defeat.
